What is Environmental Science ?
Environmental Science is that branch of knowledge that involves the study of different components of the environment that interact and result in such phenomena, which can be either beneficial or harmful for the environment and the beings dependent on it for their sustenance. Most of the students who are Environmental Science now study mostly study about pollution, global warming, forest conservation, soil erosion and the like. It also includes observation of changes in the earth’s atmosphere, studying the reasons and think about propositions to repair the damages that have been and are being done.
Branches of Environmental Science
Environmental science deals with many areas as is comprehensible as environmental factors work in determining the way life would work in synchronization with the natural factors. For example pollution is related to population, green house effects is related to global warming, pollution is again related to ozone depletion which also contributes to Global warming. There is no definite demarcation between the branches of study of Environmental Science, each overlaps on the scope of the other, yet to make things easier to grasp and to facilitate work upon them, the study of Environment Science has been divided into the following divisions:
- Environmental Chemistry
- Ecology
- Geosciences
- Atmospheric Science
- Environmental Assessment
- Environmental Microbiology
The last branch of Environmental Science is related with the study of microbes and their communities on the environment. It studies the composition and physiology of the microbes. Environmental Assessment is a branch of study that estimates and assesses the ways and methods to improve and enhance the environment. Atmospheric Science as the name suggests is the study of the gaseous layer that covers the earth like a blanket and has a huge role to play in the earth’s environment. This is one branch of Environmental studies that is being worked upon on large scale. Then we come to the next branch, which is called Geosciences, and it studies the demographical part of the environment that would include the study of the erosion, ocean, mountain building and the like. Now we come to the most interesting part of Environmental science, which is related to the impact of environment on the life, living and survival of various species of animals. It studies the reason as to why some species are becoming endangered or the reason behind the behavioral changes in some animals, which are considered as the changes to adjust with nature. Next comes Environmental Chemistry, which involves the study of the chemical part of the Environmental Science and deals with the chemical changes in water, air and soil that are being brought about by the changes in environment.

What is Engineering?
Engineering is the practical application of science and math to solve problems, and it is everywhere in the world around you. From the start to the end of each day, engineering technologies improve the ways that we communicate, work, travel, stay healthy, and entertain ourselves.
Who is an engineer?
Engineers are problem-solvers who want to make things work more efficiently and quickly and less expensively. From computer chips and satellites to medical devices and renewable energy technologies, engineering makes our modern life possible. In particular, electrical engineers and computer engineers have a wide range of study options and career paths that let them design, build, and manage those ideas into reality.
Computer engineers analyze and evaluate computer systems, both hardware and software. They might work on systems such as a flexible manufacturing system or a "smart" device or instrument. Computer engineers often find themselves focusing on problems or challenges that result in new "state-of-the-art" products, which integrate computer capabilities. They work on the design, planning, development, testing, and even the supervision of manufacturing of computer hardware–including everything from chips to device controllers. They work on the interface between different pieces of hardware and strive to provide new capabilities to existing and new systems or products. The work of a computer engineer is grounded in hardware–from circuits to architecture–but also focuses on operating systems and software. Computer engineers must understand logic design, microprocessor system design, computer architecture, computer interfacing, and continually focus on system requirements and design. It is primarily software engineers who focus on creating the software systems used by individuals and businesses, but computer engineers may also design and develop some software applications. What is Electrical Engineering?
Electrical engineers have made remarkable contributions to our world. They helped invent the computer, DSL, cellular phones, microchips, and solar panels–to name just a few examples. DVD players, cellular phones, radio, television, computers, airplanes, space vehicles, cars, motorcycles, home appliances, life-saving medical equipment, computer games, and Martian battles fought with joysticks represent a mere sampling of the now familiar facets of life made possible with the input of electrical engineers. Ten key industry sectors employ electrical engineers, computer engineers, and computer scientists:

Here is a short list of some types of Environmental and engineering products and their definition
Aerators
An aerator is generally used in wastewater treatment and helps to clean the water in the final stages of this involved process. For instance, the Singulair aerator will sit in a concrete water treatment compartment and will continuously add oxygen to the water being treated. The Singulair aerator is an amazing piece of technology, with all its electrical segments safely away from the water and an electrical connecting piece that retards water. It also has a foam guard to keep the aerator from being damaged by water that may reach a higher than expected level.
Air Compressors
An air compressor or a gas compressor operates on the simple principle of taking in a quantity of air or a certain gas and increasing its pressure many times over by reducing its volume. Compressors are similar to pumps as they both increase the pressure on a fluid and they can both transport the fluid through a pipe. Air compressors depend on several drive types and pump technologies. Common drive types are AC, DC, gas engines and diesel engines. Common pump types are positive displacement (piston, diaphragm, rotary vane and screw styles) and non positive displacement (centrifugal, axial and regenerative blowers). Engineering service directory. The is Environmental Science & Engineering Products and Services site with an Engineering trade directory has air compressor information.
Air compressors may have integral tanks for storing compressed air or discharge it directly to the output valve. Many types of compressors also generate vacuum conditions. Air compressors are used in a wide array of industrial applications such as refrigeration and deep sea diving as well as at service stations for filling tires. The technology is also used in pressurized aircraft cabins and in manufacturing environments to store gases. Air Cylinders
Air cylinders are used extensively in industrial applications. The most well known type of air cylinder is the ubiquitous oxygen cylinder that we see in a variety of commercial establishments. However, the air cylinders that are used in most industrial settings are used to store not only air but also compressed gases like liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Therefore air cylinders are more commonly called gas cylinders.
In an industrial application, air cylinders need to be stored in safe places. To avoid close proximity to hazardous substances, cylinders need to be carefully marked and color-coded to avoid confusion and to avoid mishandling because the gases stored in these containers may be stored in a high pressure condition. Air cylinders are normally made out of steel. In normal industrial usage, air cylinders normally store about 200-units to 400-units of atmospheric units of gas (1 unit is equal to 101325 kg/ms2). Butterfly Valves
Valves are used heavily in industrial processes for regulating the flow of gases and liquids by opening or closing certain pathways and hatches. There are various types of valves used and each type has a specific purpose. Butterfly valves are typically used in large pipes and cisterns to control the flow of liquids.
A butterfly valve is very simple in design which doesn’t resemble a butterfly. It comprises of a flat, plate-like structure in the centre of a pipe. An iron or steel spindle passes through the plate and it is connected to a handle to the exterior of the pipe. When you rotate the handle you can alternately switch-off or turn-on the flow of the liquid. The handle can be turned by hand or electric motor. This kind of a valve has a very sturdy design.
